"The Shadow Over Innsmouth" – This is one of my favorite H.P. Lovecraft stories, and it is a good starting place if you’ve never read anything by him.

His stories remind me of shows like The Twilight Zone and Tales From the Crypt. If you enjoy that genre, you will enjoy Lovecraft. He was a master at merging beautiful prose with horror and weird fiction.
