Traversing my Time Machine: Iraq (Part II)

It’s time for another round with my time machine! I was digging through my wooden box of foreign currencies today (nothing in there is of high value, I assure you. I’ve spent away all of the valuable currencies that have ever come into my wallet) and found more Iraqi money.

I bought these off of a merchant who had set up a little booth near the Ziggurat (the tiny, boxlike structure on the rightmost side of the first image. The image itself is its own story!).
The coin below has a little history to it. When I used to go overseas, I liked to trade American coins for local coins with locals I either befriended or just happened to talk to. I got this one while I was in Turkey. My friend had no idea where the coin came from, but he loved American coins so much, that I traded with him anyway (besides, I liked the mystery value of it!).
I had it for the longest time, keeping it safe and snug with my other coins. It wasn’t until I was sent to Iraq that I was able to identify where the coin had come from.On one of my many trips to the chow hall or to a user (I cannot remember which), I saw the coin's symbol on one of the older murals that had remained unscathed by the war.
Next time on Traversing my Time Machine, Korean won!
